I really want to go JW but..
by fortbethel ini've studied with like 30 diff denominations.
i really feel jw is best for me.
i think it's the 144,000 part & the once a year get together when they pass around the sacrament that bothers me most.

The Kingdom Hall I used to attend was shared with three congregations. The meetings on a Sunday were held at 10 a.m., 1pm and 4pm. Every two years the congregations would switch, i.e. those that had been meeting at 10 a.m. would now change to 1pm, those who had met at 1pm would now meet at 4pm and the 4pm congregation would then move to 10 a.m.
As I say, this changed every two years in January.
We found the 1pm difficult because of cooking our Sunday roast so we continued to attend at 10 a.m. when the congregation we had been attending moved to 1pm. In fact, this helped with our fade as when we met people from our congregation we were able to say that we still attended at 10 am which we did for a while but then when we stopped attending completely no-one really missed us.

I agree that perhaps that because we are anti Watchtower puts us on the same side. However, that aside, I truly believe that a lot of what they say and print is wrong on any view, but, because they say are Christians we should expect higher standards from them, not lower.
I, too, found the constant namecalling given in their talks offensive and shocking when, in my opinion, people on the platform should be setting an example and certainly should not be preaching such like even if it is their personal opinion. They are in a position of responsibility and should lead by example.
Namecalling on any view is NOT Christian behaviour.
For all the faults churches may have I have never experienced this kind of behaviour in any of the ones I have attended services in.

IMO it is wrong for anyone to call anyone mentally diseased but a million times worse when it is coming from someone who purports to be a Christian. Furthermore, they have even put this in print and are teaching this to their congregations many of whom may be gullible and take everything they say at face value.
I still find it incredulous that they would preach such a thing let alone print it! They are making judgment which the bible says Christians shouldn't do.
Furthermore, we had a few people in our congregation who truly did have mental illness, they would often say how much being a witness had helped with their illness etc. Surely, then this might put into question their faith if they are now being lumped in with "apostates"?

Visiting MIL tomorrow - says she has a present for us!
by Little Imp inwe are visiting my husband's parents tomorrow but over the phone mil says she has a present for us.. the only time that she has given us a present in the eight years i have known them was one of the little books we used for the tuesday evening book study, this was presented to me all wrapped nicely in pretty paper.. i just hope that we are not in for a witnessing!.
if it is another book there is no way i am bringing it home, i don't want any more jw crap in our house.
we will just conveniently forget to pick it up.

Lol. I wish it were true. Unfortunately, MIL is a control freak and if we don't do what she says she starts crying then FIL tells my husband to stop upsetting her.

Fortunately, they are both old and forgetful so hopefully they will forget they were going to give us a present, failing that we will just leave it behind and say we forgot it.
Visits to them are never easy but I am not looking forward to this one.

Put something on the lid so that when he lifts it it makes a sound or plays music.
